Crossfire Basketball Camp

Basketball Camp 2026 Coming Soon!

Why We’re Ending the Overnight Camp

The decision to discontinue our Overnight Camp was not taken lightly. Rising insurance premiums and increasingly expensive facility rental costs have made it financially unfeasible. Even after years of subsidizing the camp through sponsorships, the numbers simply no longer work. After careful prayer and wise counsel, we’ve made the choice to bring this chapter to a close while staying focused on serving athletes through sustainable and impactful camps.

What to Expect in 2026

Starting in 2026, Crossfire will offer at least two Half-Day Camps running Monday through Thursday from 1:00–4:30 PM. Each camp is expected to cost $100 per camper and will likely be held in Hendersonville and Asheville. These camps are designed to deliver high-impact basketball training in a shorter, more accessible format that fits better with busy family schedules.

Shifting Realities and New Considerations

Since Crossfire began in 1993, the world has changed significantly. Today, there are new concerns and sensitivities surrounding overnight events, especially for youth. These changes, coupled with the logistical and financial challenges, led us to reevaluate how we can best serve families. While we’ll miss the Overnight Camp experience, we believe this shift opens the door for safer, smarter, and more family-friendly options moving forward.

A New Full-Day Format

For families seeking a more immersive experience, our Full-Day Camp will now be offered as a 2- or 3-day program. This allows families—especially those traveling from out of town—to stay in nearby hotels and enjoy the evenings together. These sessions will include lunch and follow a model successfully used by other camps nationwide. This cost-effective plan not only prevents financial strain on Crossfire but also saves families money without compromising on quality.

Meet Ryan Goodson — Crossfire’s Newest Full-Time Team Member

We’re excited to officially introduce Ryan Goodson, who will be joining Crossfire Ministry full-time in 2026!

Ryan and his wife, Ashley, live in Lenoir, North Carolina, and he has already been actively involved in Crossfire’s sports ministry. In 2025, Ryan helped lead basketball camps both in the Dominican Republic and the Philippines, as well as taking part in our U.S.-based summer camps. His impact has been immediate, and we’re thrilled that he’ll be expanding his role in the coming year.

As a former basketball team manager at Appalachian State University under Coach Buzz Peterson (a longtime friend of Crossfire), Ryan brings both passion and professional experience to the court.

For the past 15 years, Ryan has trained high school, college, and NBA athletes. Notably, he led Stephen Curry’s first basketball camp in 2007 and has worked with a wide range of elite players.

Some highlights from Ryan’s career include:

  • Filming a workout endorsement with Mac McClung, 3-time NBA Slam Dunk Champion

  • Serving as a basketball coordinator for a Sprite commercial featuring Trae Young (Atlanta Hawks) and Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves)

In 2026 and beyond, Ryan will be leading basketball clinics and one-on-one training sessions throughout the year as part of his full-time role with Crossfire.

We are grateful to have Ryan on board and can’t wait to see how God continues to use his gifts to impact lives through the game of basketball.
